5th Generation winemaker David Clouston continues a 100-year legacy in the family business. He believes in blending science with the finest characteristics of Marlborough's climate water and soil. His wine-making employs a variety of methods to make truly artisan wines from the Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Wairu Valley. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with wild yeasts and bottled undefined to maximize aromas that is textured in great French oak barrels.
Full red colour aromas of blackcurrant truffle and nougat, flavour of wild herbs and aromatic spice with a shining core of cherries and plums. Good complexity and substance.
Rugged and rustic in one way, with lots of flavours of wild herbs and some lovely, soft aromatic spice. But shining through is a beautiful and pure core of red fruits including cranberry, cherry and plums. This gives a wine of great complexity and counterpoint. Ideal with chicken or duck, but great to savour on its own and contemplate
